General

When does the event start and finish? +

Gates are open from 11am, with the polo matches and entertainment taking place between 11.15am – 5.45pm. The event concludes at 6pm.

Where is the event located? +

Portsea Polo is located in the beautiful Point Nepean National Park (Boonwurrung country), approximately 2 hours south of Melbourne CBD.

Is there a dress code? +

There is no formal dress code but our stylist recommends; “For the ladies flowing dresses and wedges or sandals (heels are best left at home) and a summer hat or statement accessory can be an excellent way to finish off an outfit. For the gents a tailored shirt matched with dress shorts or chinos, together with loafers or boat shoes achieves a polished yet casual look for the day. Sunglasses are a must-have addition in sunny Portsea”

Any offensive or hateful clothing will not be permitted at the event.

Do you provide pass-outs? +

There are strictly no pass-outs permitted at Portsea Polo so please ensure you bring in everything you need for the day.

Are my children able to attend? +

Portsea Polo in association with Stella Artois is a strictly 18+ event; unfortunately minors are not able to attend.

What medical facilities are available? +

There will be medical facilities available on site from St John’s Ambulance. Their tent will be located near the main event entrance.

What kind of wheelchair access will be available? +

The event grounds and all event-run marquees will be wheelchair accessible. However, please keep in mind that Portsea Polo is located in a national park so the terrain can be uneven. There will be an accessible bathroom located at each of the toilet blocks.

Can I bring my own furniture? +

General Admission ticket holders are welcome to bring in a fold-out chair or picnic rug if they wish, however, the event does provide seating (shaded and not-shaded) within the precinct. All other ticket holders are unable to bring any furniture with them.

If you are hosting a Supersite or Private Marquee please contact our exclusive event hire partner, Harry the Hirer to organise furniture for your facility.

Can I bring my own food and drinks? +

If you have organised a Supersite or Private Marquee you can prearrange a food and beverage package from one of great event caterers. Please head to HOSPITALITY to get in touch with the caterers. Private Marquee hosts are also welcome to self-cater (conditions apply, no BYO alcoholic beverages), please contact the Portsea Polo office to find out more information.

For General Admission and Provincial Polo Lounge ticket holders; food and beverages must be purchased from our great range of bars and gourmet food outlets on the day. Please note that you are unable to bring your own food and beverages (hard or soft) into the event.

For Polo Club Point Nepean ticket holders; your ticket includes gourmet canapes and free-flowing beverages all day.

Will there be EFTPOS facilities? +

Our food and beverage outlets will be accepting cash only so we recommend bringing cash with you to the event. However, there will be ATM facilities on the day should you require it.

Ticketing

Where do I collect my tickets? +

If you have selected and paid additional for postage during the booking process, your tickets will be express posted to your nominated address. You will be contacted by the Portsea Polo office once the tickets have been dispatched.

Otherwise, you will be advised when your tickets are available for collection from the Portsea Polo office (located in Hawthorn, 3122) or the ticketing booth on event day. The ticketing booth is located beside the main entry for easy access.

Getting There

Is there a bus to the event? +

There is a return coach transfer service from Melbourne CBD (Federation Square). Tickets can be purchased for $60pp HERE.
We also offer a free shuttle service from Sorrento and Portsea to the event, running every 15 minutes from 10.30am to 1.30pm. The return service will be running every 15 minutes from 4pm until the last service at 7pm. Please visit GETTING THERE for more information about the bus routes.

Can a driver drop me off at the event? +

If you have a driver dropping you off/picking you up from the event, they will need to drop you off at the Point Nepean Entrance/Visitor Centre where we will have a shuttle service to the Portsea Polo gate. The shuttle bus will operate a loop service between 10.30am and 6.30pm on event day. If your driver wishes to park their vehicle at the event, a car park pass must be purchased. We recommend purchasing your car parking pass prior to the event to avoid disappointment. Car parking passes can be found HERE. Only vehicles with car parking passes will be admitted into the national park.

Please allow extra time to arrive at the polo as the roads to the national park can get very congested.

Can I drive myself to the polo? +

You are welcome to drive and park your car at the event but a car parking pass must be purchased. Car parking passes can be found HERE. We recommend purchasing your car park pass prior to the event to avoid disappointment. Only cars with car parking passes will be admitted into the national park. Please note that cars must be removed from the event site by 7pm and not left overnight, so please ensure that yourself or someone within your group is the designated driver and remains responsible throughout the event.

I want to arrive in style, can I take a helicopter or boat to the event? +

Absolutely! We are proud to have Microflite as one of our event partners. Please contact them to arrange a one way or return helicopter service to the event.

Boats can be anchored north of the Polo field and guests can come ashore via the Parks Victoria beach access steps. If you require assistance coming ashore, Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club members will be on hand to help in return for a small donation.
